Department Functions

The function of the Fire and Rescue Department is to protect life, provide rescue for persons in danger, prevent the outbreak of fires in the community and limit damage to property and the environment. Essentially, the department ensures the health and safety of the citizens and visitors of Hampton County by extinguishing and investigating hostile fires, enforcing fire codes, presenting life-safety educating programs, rescuing persons in danger, controlling hazardous material incidents, mitigating the effects of natural disasters and providing first responder service to the people experiencing potentially life-threatening medical emergencies.
