Hampton County is located in the Southwestern corner of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Bordered by the Savannah River to the West, Beaufort and Jasper Counties to the South, Colleton County to the East, and Allendale County to the North.

Major highway arteries passing through Hampton County include Interstate 95, with an interchange at Yemassee. More than 37,000 vehicles pass through Hampton County every day along I-95, which has been described as the busiest interstate on the east coast.

Highway 278, a major highway from Augusta, Georgia to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passes through the towns of Brunson, Hampton, and Varnville. More than 12,000 vehicles follow that route each day.

Highway 321, a major highway from Columbia, South Carolina, to Savannah, Georgia, passes through the town of Estill carrying more than 4,300 vehicles each day.

Highway 601 also passes through the Town of Hampton, and is a major thoroughfare from Columbia, South Carolina, to Savannah, Georgia with more than 12,000 vehicles passing through each day.

The Hampton County Airport, located in Varnville, handles small plane traffic. Regional airports, handling larger aircraft including small jets, can be found a half hour away in Allendale and Walterboro. International airports are located an hour away in Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia.
Hampton County is fortunate to have outstanding rail lines that provide availability to ship all across the nation. CSX Transportation offers new and existing companies outstanding rail sites and advantages in transporting goods and/or supplies. In addition, Amtrak offers passenger rail with a stop in Yemassee.

Industry interested in capitalizing on global trade will find port access available at two deep water ports just an hour away in Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia.

Local residential and business telephone services are provided by EMBARQ and Verizon. Broadband service is available in many locations around the county.
