NEWS RELEASE 

To help ensure voters are prepared for the upcoming Democratic Presidential Preference Primary, the Hampton County Board of Voter Registration and Elections wants to remind residents of the impending voter registration deadline and urge those already registered to update their residence address and other voter registration information.  Voters who have moved from one county to another must register in their new county. 

Residents who wish to vote in the February 29, 2020 Democratic Presidential Preference Primary must be registered by January 30, 2020.     

 17-year-old citizens who will turn 18 years of age on or before the November 3, 2020 General Election may also register and be eligible to vote in the February 29th Democratic Presidential Preference Primary, the June 9th Statewide Primary and the November 3rd General Election.  This early registration allows those 17-year-old voters who are eligible to vote in the General Election to also participate in the political parties’ nominating processes for the General Election.    

To register or update voter registration information:   

Visit the County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office, B.T. Deloach Building, 201 Jackson Avenue West, Hampton, S.C. ·  Register online at www.scvotes.org. Online registration requires a S.C. Driver’s License or DMV ID.  If you have moved, you must first update your address with DMV. 

Register during normal business hours at designated “Motor-Voter” sites, including the DMV, DSS and other state and federal public service agencies.  

Request a voter registration by mail application from the County Board of Voter Registration and Elections or download a voter registration by mail application at www.scvotes.org, complete it and mail, fax, or scan application and email it as a file attachment to the County Board of Voter Registration and Elections.  Voter registration by mail applications must be postmarked by the January 30th deadline.   

Staff will also be available at the Voter Registration and Elections Office to take photographs for issuing the S.C. Voter Identification Card.
