Center Recyclables

Recyclable items are collected at the drop off centers and transferred to the Landfill for processing before being recycled. All Hampton County citizens are encouraged to become recyclers.

No hazardous materials can be accepted at the drop off centers.

All drop off centers accept household garbage for transfer to a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Landfill for disposal. All other items are collected and recycled. All centers accept the following items for recycling:
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Plastic jugs and bottles
  • Newspapers and inserts
  • Office paper (white only)
  • Cardboard
  • Magazines and books
  • Used oil filters
  • Used oil (must be poured into a collection tank on site
  • Empty oil bottles
  • Used tires
  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Scrap metals
  • White goods (refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, etc.)
  • Yard trimmings (leaves, pine straw, limbs, and branches up to 6 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length) *
  • Brown Goods (sofas, chairs, mattresses, bed springs, etc.)
  • Construction and demolition (C&D) debris *
  • Glass (brown, green, clear)
  • E-waste (computers and electronics)
  • Paints
  • Cooking oil (from residents only)
  • Used antifreeze at Main Landfill Only
  • Batteries
  • Florescent Light Bulbs including Compact Florescent Bulbs
* No contractors will be allowed to use the drop off centers.
