Functioins
The goal of the Economic Development Commission is to help strengthen the area's economy and to encourage job growth. The Commission does this by:
- Recruiting companies
- Helping companies currently within the County to remain viable and expand
- Working to improve the area's business climate
The Commission manages two, county-owned class A certified industrial parks:
- Lowcountry Regional Industrial Park located in Early Branch (Foreign Trade Zone)
- Estill Industrial Park located near Estill
The Economic Development Commission is a member of the Southern Carolina Regional Development Alliance, which helps market the county to industrial prospects. To increase the competitiveness of Hampton County's business climate, the Commission is supported by the South Carolina Department of Commerce and utility companies. The Commission works in collaboration with the Department of Commerce to construct incentive packages for companies endeavoring to locate their business in Hampton County, South Carolina.
